Dr. Richard J. Shuldiner is a highly respected leader in the field of low vision care and the President of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (IALVS). Early in his career, he worked with pioneers like Dr. William Feinbloom, who invented bioptic telescope glasses for driving, and Dr. Eleanor Faye at the New York Lighthouse, one of the world’s most advanced low vision service centers. This mentorship laid the foundation for his contributions to low vision care.
Dr. Shuldiner has made significant impacts throughout his career, including founding low vision services for the New York Lighthouse in White Plains and Middletown, and helping establish the Dutchess Lighthouse. After moving to California, he developed the Shuldiner-Feinbloom Philosophy & Methods for Low Vision Care, a rigorous training program for optometrists, and founded IALVS in 2002, personally training all 39 of its current members. He has lectured internationally and published extensively in key optometric journals.
